Program Overview
Within the CPR VR training, you are tested on the following skills: hazard identification, checking the colleague for a response, contacting emergency services, checking for breathing, assessing airways, moving your colleague into recovery position, clearing the airway and rechecking, then checking for breathing.
Note: This training is used to assess CPR knowledge after completing in-person or online training on CPR procedures and techniques.

Note: In this experience, you can make one mistake for each step and get a chance to try a second time. However, if you get any step wrong twice you will be sent back into the lobby and will have to restart the experience from the beginning.
Adult CPR
At the beginning of this scenario, you are in an office where your colleague is in need of CPR.
Component 1
-
First, identify any hazards and remove them from the area using your Laser Pointer. Possible hazards:
-
Desk chairs
-
Coffee cups
-
Knocked over plants
-
-
Once all hazards are removed, select "Next".
-
Check to see if your colleague is responding by touching their face and body with light tapping for about three seconds.
-
Next, dial emergency services from your smartwatch (located on your left wrist). The number that you choose to dial will depend on your local region. You will need to answer a series of questions such as:
-
The phone number that you dial (this is based on the region you selected in the lobby)
-
What service you require
-
If your colleague is male or female
-
Your colleagues age
-
Your location
-
Whether or not your colleague is breathing
-
-
To check for breathing, place your hand near your colleague’s mouth and place their head down to listen.
-
Next, you will need to check your colleague’s airways by pushing their head back and scooping out anything blocking their airway. You may find vomit in their airway. If you do, put your colleague into recovery position.
-
To put your colleague in recovery position, physically move their body:
-
Put left arm out to the side
-
Cross right arm over chest
-
Bend right knee up
-
Roll colleague to the side
-
-
Once your colleague is in recovery position, you must clear their airway by tilting their head back, opening their mouth, and scooping the foreign matter out.
-
After clearing your colleague’s airway, open their mouth one more time to re-check the airway, followed by checking for breathing.
-
Tip: To check for breathing, you can again place your hand on your colleague’s face and listen near their mouth.
-
Component 2
Once you check for breathing, you have completed component one and can move onto component two, in which you will complete the same steps.
Component 3
Start component three by bringing your real world mannequin into the playspace.
-
Once you have placed and aligned your real world mannequin, you can align the blue holographic CPR mannequin with your real world mannequin.
-
Tip: If the two are not aligning in the vertical plane, you can use your controller thumbsticks to move the VR mannequin up and down along the Z axis.
-
-
Once both mannequins are aligned, set aside your left-hand controller.
-
Next, choose the proper hand position for compressions.
-
After choosing the proper hand position, begin practicing the compression rhythm.
-
The rate of your compressions is indicated in front of you, you will need to try to stay in the green zone.
-
Any mistakes in the CPR cycle will cause the indicator for that section to turn red. Note that if you make 2 or more errors in providing CPR, you will fail the module.
-
When you have finished practicing, you can select "Next".
-
-
Once you finish practicing compressions, you can practice rescue breaths. To do so, select the breath icon above your colleague’s mouth.
-
When finished practicing, demonstrate compressions and rescue breaths by providing CPR.
-
Next, another colleague will arrive to assist.
-
Answer the following question: "When should the second person commence compressions?"
-
Then instruct your colleague by selecting the correct hand positioning for compressions.
-
-
Next, complete an additional 2 CPR cycles. Note: You are only responsible for delivering the 2 rescue breaths at the correct time.
-
The NPC colleague will be doing compressions.
-
Once CPR is complete, the third component will end.
-
Component 4
Component four goes over the correct use for a Defibrillator.
-
Begin by removing the physical mannequin from the play space.
-
Next, press the green button on the Defibrillator.
-
Open your colleague’s shirt.
-
Remove the stickers from the Defibrillator paddles and place the paddles on your colleague’s chest.
-
Activate the Defibrillator with your Laser Pointer.
-
Lastly, you will hear the sound of the ambulance in the background to indicate that you have successfully reached the end of the assessment.
Infant CPR
At the beginning of this scenario, you spawn into an office where an infant is in need of CPR.
Component 1
-
First, identify any hazards and remove them from the area using your Laser Pointer. Possible hazards:
-
Toy blocks
-
Teddy bear
-
-
Once all hazards are removed, check to see if the infant is responding by touching their face and body with light tapping for about three seconds.
-
Next, dial emergency services from your smartwatch (located on your left wrist). The number that you choose to dial will depend on your local region. You will need to answer a series of questions such as:
-
The phone number that you dial (this is based on which region you selected in the lobby)
-
What service you require
-
The Infant's age
-
Your location
-
-
Then you can check the infant’s airways by touching their mouth. After checking their airways, you will be asked what the next step is.
Component 2
Start component two by bringing your real world infant mannequin into the playspace.
-
Once you have placed and aligned your real world mannequin, you can align the blue holographic CPR mannequin with your real world mannequin.
-
If the two are not aligning in the vertical plane, use your controller thumbsticks to move the VR mannequin up and down along the Z axis.
-
Once both mannequins are aligned, set aside your left-hand controller.
-
-
Next, choose the proper hand position for compressions.
-
After choosing the proper hand position, begin practicing the compression rhythm.
-
The rate of your compressions is indicated in front of you; you will need to try to stay in the green zone.
-
Any mistakes in the CPR cycle will cause the indicator for that section to turn red. Note that if you make two or more errors in providing CPR, you will fail the module.
-
When you have finished practicing, select "Next".
-
-
Once you have finished practicing compressions, you can practice rescue breaths. To do so, select the breath icon above the infant’s mouth.
-
Once you are finished practicing, demonstrate compressions and rescue breaths by providing CPR.
-
Lastly, you will hear the sound of the ambulance in the background. This indicates that you have successfully reached the end of your assessment.
