Wired Casting with USB-C

  1. Download and install PICO Connect (formerly PICO Streaming Assistant) on your PC, then open it.

  2. Put on your PICO headset and turn it on.

  3. Connect your PC and headset using a USB-C 3.0 cable.

    1. Plug one end of the USB-C cable into the headset's port and the other end into an available USB-C 3.0 port on your computer. Make sure the cable is not overly bent or stretched.

    2. Enable Developer Mode and USB debugging on the headset if prompted. For steps on enabling Developer Mode, see this guide.

  4. In headset, open the PICO Store and search for the "PICO Connect" app, then install the app.

  5. Once installed, open the app and choose a connection mode:

    1. Select "USB Mode"

    2. Locate your PC from the list of available devices and select it.

  6. Select "Connect".

  7. Your headset screen should now be duplicated to your computer screen.

Troubleshooting Checklist

All Casting Methods

  1. Confirm that your PC and headset are connected to the same Wi-Fi network:

    1. The current Wi-Fi connection is shown at the bottom of your headset screen.

    2. To switch to a different network, select the field where the current network is displayed. Then select your desired network instead.

  2. Update your headset's firmware and install any updates for your PC or TV. To check your headset for updates:

    1. Open the "Control Centre(from the Home menu, select the field displaying the time, headset battery and Wi-Fi connection)

    2. Select "Settings", then select "System Update".

    3. Select "Check for Updates" or "Update" if a new version is available.

  3. Restart your Headset and Casting Device.

  4. Restart your Wi-Fi Router.

  5. Try a Different Network.

    • Avoid using Wi-Fi networks that are crowded with many devices.

    • You can also place the casting device and headset closer to your Wi-Fi router to reduce signal interference.

  6. Disable VPNs/Firewalls that Block Casting.

    • Certain mesh networks and corporate or certificate-based networks may not support casting due to blocks for security purposes. These blocks are common on home guest networks, corporate and commercial networks (e.g. at a hotel or airport).

    • This will require working with your local IT Team.

Casting to Browser Tips

  1. Try casting to Chrome or Edge, as these browsers are often more reliable.

  2. Windows PCs must have a Windows 10 operating system (or higher) for casting to work.

  3. If you get a "This site can't be reached" error after typing in the URL, select the Refresh icon next to the URL in headset to generate a new web address.

If your headset is managed by ManageXR:

You can also try their version of browser casting at https://console.managexr.com/casting.

Casting to Smart TV Tips

If you cannot connect to your TV:

  1. Make sure to open any screencasting applications (such as Miracast or Cast for PICO) on your TV as well for casting to work.

  2. If direct Chromecast or Miracast detection fails, using a dedicated Android TV stick with the PICO Cast app is a reliable alternative.

If you want to cast to a TV that isn't a Smart TV:

Try casting to a browser and plug your PC into the TV with an HDMI cable.

Wired Casting Tips

  1. Try plugging the USB-C 3.0 cable into a different port on your PC.

  2. Uninstall PICO Connect, then reinstall.

  3. Try using a different USB-C cable.
