Purpose: This article will walk you through on how to sideload VR content onto your headset using ADB and command lines.
- Download the driver from Oculus.com. When the download finishes it will be in your "Downloads" folder, find and extract the zip file into a folder.
- Now right click on android_winusb.inf and click Install.
- Then connect your Oculus to the computer and put on a headset and allow connection.
- After your computer will see the device as a storage device.
- Extract the contents of the platform-tools folder to an easy to find folder on your PC, such as C:\ADB. You’ll need to type out the path to this folder when sideloading, so putting the file near the root of your drive saves typing time
- Download and install the Minimal ADB and Fastbooot Tool from https://androiddatahost.com/uq6us
Follow these steps to install an app:
- Make sure your headset is connected to your PC via USB.
- Right click on the Windows Start button at the bottom left of your screen and click File Explorer, then make your way to C:\ADB
- Move VR content to C:\ADB
- Run program
- Once program is open Type in: ADB install C:\ADB\Filename.apk Wait a few seconds to get “Success”
- Go back to your device and make your way into the folder: This PC\Quest 2\Internal shared storage\Android\obb
- Copy your .OBB file into the corresponding folder.
Quest 1 & 2
- When you put on your headset, you should see a new section in your Library called Unknown Sources. This will contain any VR apps you installed using ADB.
Pico NEO 2 & 3
- When you put on your headset you should see a section called Library on the bar floating in the lower but center of the screen. This will contain any VR apps you installed using ADB.
